Would you show up intoxicated to a driving lesson?

Driving a car can be dangerous even when you are fully sober. Despite this, some students choose to show up intoxicated to their driving lessons. At the Learn driving school, they now believe the problem is so significant that they have asked the police to teach them how to recognize when a person is under the influence.

The police have willingly provided training to driving instructors, as they are not surprised that instructors experience this. They say many would be surprised if they knew how many people actually drive while intoxicated. For every taxi you encounter in traffic, you have also encountered an impaired driver!

Some who drive under the influence probably convince themselves that it will always be fine if they are careful. Although this is obviously not true, you can at least somewhat understand the reasoning behind it. Understanding the reasoning behind showing up intoxicated to a driving lesson is much harder for us. When you attend driving lessons, we hope the goal is to learn something, but while intoxicated, the learning outcome will be minimal. Here you are throwing away money while exposing yourself and others to great risk. We think you should cancel the lesson, save that money, and take a new lesson when you are more receptive to learning.

There are also some people who drive intoxicated without having thought about it, people who are on medication. It is important to note that this can be just as dangerous as driving while intoxicated on drugs or alcohol. If the medication affects your ability to drive, you should not do it. It may be wise to talk to your doctor about what effect the medication has. In some cases, you may be able to switch to another medication that allows you to drive.
