150+ new questions – and two brand-new parts of the traffic sign test

The summer content round is done. Over 150 new questions across the car, motorcycle and traffic sign tests – including two brand-new parts of the sign test, covering road markings and light signals that actually flash.

Steady growth – and a packed summer round

Our tests are never quite finished – and that is deliberate. Over the past six months we have kept adding new questions to most of our tests, and now the summer round is done: more than 150 new questions across the car theory test, the motorcycle theory test and the traffic sign test, plus additions and improvements to the taxi test and several others.

The goal is the same every time: the tests should mirror what people actually meet on the road and wonder about in everyday life – not just the syllabus.

Two brand-new parts of the traffic sign test

The sign test has gained two new sections. The first covers road markings: yellow and white lines, hatched areas, "shark's teeth", pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes and the symbols painted on the roadway – including the very newest ones.

The second covers light signals, and here we have treated ourselves to something we have wanted for a long time: signals that actually flash. The amber light blinks, and the red lights at the level crossing flash alternately – both on the website and in the app. It makes the questions far more true to life than a still image.

Signs you actually meet

We have also gone through the sign catalogue and plugged gaps: the emergency exit sign in tunnels, the zone signs telling you where e-scooters cannot be parked – or used at all – the oblong sign in the middle of small roundabouts, and the junction numbers on the motorway.

And not least: a good pile of signs that look alike. For those, we now explain exactly what sets them apart – because that is usually precisely what people get wrong.

Car and motorcycle: updated for today's traffic

The car and motorcycle tests have new questions about modern motoring: driver assistance systems, electric cars, e-scooters, and the give-way situations people genuinely debate. We have also hunted down outdated facts in existing questions – rules change quietly, and our answers must change with them.

How we choose what to write

We do not guess. We look at anonymised answer statistics (what people actually get wrong), the questions that reach our support inbox, and what people discuss in forums and comment sections. And everything we write is checked against Norwegian law and the Public Roads Administration's handbooks before it enters the tests.

Five languages, one standard

Everything new launches simultaneously in Norwegian, English, Ukrainian, Polish and Arabic. The demos are free, and the sign test demo already includes a taste of the new sections. Good luck with your practice!
