An example from the question set

What are the three main types of tanks used for transporting dangerous goods under ADR?

Fixed tank, demountable tank and tank container
Fixed tank, IBC and drum
Tank container, cylinder and demountable tank
Pressure vessel, fixed tank and flexible tank
Explanation

ADR defines three main types of tanks:

  1. Fixed tank - permanently mounted on the vehicle or chassis. The tank is an integral part of the vehicle and cannot be removed without tools.
  2. Demountable tank - can be removed from the vehicle. Has its own approval and approval certificate.
  3. Tank container - built according to ISO standards with a frame for lifting and stacking. Can be transported by road, rail and ship.

All three types must meet ADR requirements for construction, approval and periodic inspection, but have different detailed requirements adapted to their type.

I just wanted to thank you for the service. I used the tests from prøve.no and passed the theory test yesterday with flying colors. The questions prepared me well for the theory test and resembled the questions I ended up getting on the actual test. Thank you so much! :)

Frequently asked questions

How many errors can you have on the ADR tank exam?

You can have a maximum of 3 errors out of 15 questions on the ADR tank exam (T-ADR). You need at least 12 of 15 correct to pass at DSB.

How long does the ADR tank exam take?

You have 75 minutes for the ADR tank exam at DSB. If you take the combined exam (G-TADR), the 135 minutes for the basic course are added, giving 210 minutes in total on the same day.

Can I take the ADR tank exam without the basic course?

No. The ADR basic course (G-ADR) is the mandatory foundation for the tank specialization. Most candidates take the basic course and tank on the same exam day as a combined exam (G-TADR). Taking only the tank exam is relevant only if you already hold a valid ADR basic certificate.

How long is the ADR tank specialization valid?

The ADR competence certificate with tank specialization is valid for 5 years from the date of issue. Before it expires you must pass renewal exams for both the basic course and the tank module to retain the qualification.

Which ADR specialisations are there?

ADR training consists of a basic course (grunnkurs) and three specialisation courses: tank, class 1 (explosives) and class 7 (radioactive material). This test covers the tank specialisation, which builds on the basic course.
