The Public Roads Administration has had to remind people that hydrogen vehicles with HY plates can also use bus lanes.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration recently sent out a press release reminding people that cars with HY plates (hydrogen vehicles) have the same rights as cars with EL and later EK plates (electric vehicles) in bus lanes.

There are actually only 28 cars registered with HY plates so far, but the Public Roads Administration reports that dangerous traffic situations have already occurred because bus and taxi drivers were not aware that they must share the bus lane with HY-plated vehicles.

Electric cars were recently banned from bus lanes on Ring 3 and E18 in Oslo. However, this rule change did not apply to hydrogen cars, which can still freely use all bus lanes in Oslo.
