More getting automatic-only licenses

In recent years, more young people have chosen to practice and take their driving test with automatic transmission. The growth is likely due to the increase in hybrid and electric vehicle sales.

More getting automatic-only licenses

As a result of more hybrid cars and electric vehicles in this country, it’s becoming more common for Norwegian households to only have access to cars with automatic transmission. This means the choice makes itself for some young people, since it becomes difficult to gain experience with manual transmission. If you take your driving test in a car with automatic transmission, you don’t get the right to drive cars with manual transmission.

By the end of September this year, there were 17,839 people with licenses for automatic-only vehicles. This is an increase of almost 4,000 people from the same time last year, according to <a href="https://www.nrk.no/rogaland/flere-tar-forerkort-kun-for-automatgir-1.13233748”>NRK</a>.

We at prøve.no believe this growth is likely to continue in the coming years, as hybrid and electric vehicles continue to capture market share.
