Owners of registered vehicles without insurance now face daily fines

Expensive to drive without insurance

The Traffic Insurance Association has now been given responsibility for collecting a fee from owners of vehicles without insurance. The fee is charged per day the vehicle is uninsured, until the owner either surrenders the license plates, insures the vehicle, or a new owner insures it.

The goal of this scheme is to reduce the number of uninsured vehicles on Norwegian roads. The funds will be used to operate the scheme and to pay out insurance settlements to those who are harmed by uninsured vehicles.
