Two new tests, out of beta
Over the past few months we have built two brand-new practice tests. Both have been in closed beta, and now they are open to everyone: the taxi operator licence exam and the theory test for vehicle combinations (class CE).
Both are made the same way as the rest of our tests. Every question has an explanation, everything is checked against the regulations, and everything is available in Norwegian, English, Ukrainian, Polish and Arabic.
The taxi operator licence exam
If you are starting and running a taxi company, you normally need to pass the operator licence exam at Statens vegvesen to get a taxi operating licence (drosjeløyve). The exam is not about driving, but about running the business.
It is not the same as the Drosjeprøven. The Drosjeprøven concerns the taxi driver licence (kjøreseddel) and is for you if you will be carrying passengers. The operator licence exam is for you if you will own and run the taxi business itself. Many people take both.
We have 455 questions across 11 topics, divided the same way as the official Statens vegvesen topic list:
- Licensing rules and market access (the Professional Transport Act)
- Employer responsibilities, the Working Environment Act and the Holidays Act
- Training, internal control and health, safety and environment
- Company forms, finance and accounting
- Price information, maximum fares and trip logging
- Tax, value added tax and employer's national insurance contribution
Every question has been checked against the legal text on Lovdata. Where the rules have changed since the topic list was written, we follow the current rules. One example is the duty to be affiliated with an approved dispatch centre, which applies from 1 September 2024.
The exam itself has 35 questions, and you can have at most 5 errors. You have 60 minutes. The exam is taken in Norwegian, and you cannot use an interpreter. You can ask to have the questions read aloud in Norwegian through headphones. Feel free to use the translation to understand the material, but make sure you know the Norwegian terms before the exam.
Taxi Operator Licence Exam
Planning to start and run a taxi company? Then you must pass the taxi operator licence exam (løyveeksamen for drosje) at Statens vegvesen. It is not about driving, but about running the business – licensing rules, employer responsibilities, finance, accounting, pricing, tax and duties. Practise with a large pool of questions built on the official topic list and walk in well prepared.
Try for free nowThe theory test for vehicle combinations (class CE)
The theory test for vehicle combinations is for you if you are taking a class CE driving licence. Class CE is only issued to someone who holds, or at the same time gets, class C, so the test builds on what you know from the truck licence.
We have 360 questions across 7 parts:
- Trailer, coupling and daily checks
- Driving and manoeuvring with a trailer
- Load and load distribution on a vehicle combination
- Brakes and stability with a trailer
- Special vehicle combinations, such as modular vehicle combinations
- Driving in traffic and safety
- Rules common to heavy vehicles, such as driving and rest times
Many of the questions are calculations with the registration document (vognkort) and the road list (vegliste) – exactly what many people find hardest in the test.
The test itself has 30 questions, and you can have at most 5 errors. You have 120 minutes, so take your time on the calculations.
